Test Score QuestionsYes, The University of Alabama will allow students applying through the Fall 2025 Semester the option to submit or not submit test scores.
Students may elect to send scores. Students who do not send scores will not be penalized as we will review all applications for admission under our holistic model.
UA will superscore for admission purposes. We will not superscore for automatic, merit-based scholarships.
Holistic admissions at The University of Alabama includes both academic and non-academic criteria. Academic components considered include high school GPA, performance in core subjects, academic honors and standardized test scores, should a student elect to submit them. Non-academic items include leadership experience, volunteer experience, extracurricular activities, employment and non-academic honors. All students must complete the minimum unit requirements.
All students who submit an application and all supporting documents by January 10 will be considered for competitive scholarships, regardless of their decision to submit standardized test scores for admissions consideration. Those who apply and/or submit supporting documents after the deadline will not be considered for competitive scholarships.
Only students who choose to submit standardized test scores or are designated National Merit Scholars are eligible for automatic merit scholarships. Students are strongly encouraged to submit all application materials by the January 10 priority deadline to ensure consideration. Admitted students who meet the May 1 application date will be considered for automatic merit scholarships.
Transfer students who have completed fewer than 24 credit hours will have the choice to be considered test optional. If you have test scores, you are welcome to submit them. Applicants will not be penalized if test scores are not submitted.
The December 2024 ACT or SAT scores are the final scores accepted for scholarship consideration.
Scholarship QuestionsStudents will receive a Consolidated Scholarship Letter in mid-March that outlines their scholarship award package for the coming year and will have until May 1 to accept.
There are a variety of automatic merit and competitive scholarships available for incoming freshmen and transfer students. For information about deadlines related to each category of scholarships, review Undergraduate Scholarships on the Afford website.
We cannot calculate this probability as competitive awards are based on the review of a student’s application in the pool of candidates. We encourage all students to submit their scholarship application by the priority deadline to receive full consideration.
In addition to automatic merit scholarships, students can apply for competitive scholarships. Competitive scholarships are included in the application for admission. After admission, you have an opportunity to apply for additional competitive scholarships in the Alabama Scholarship Application Manager (ASAM). Complete yours by January 10 for full consideration.
For the most up-to-date scholarship offerings, review Undergraduate Scholarships on the Afford website and select your student type (found below the Scholarship/Aid Timeline).
The December 2024 ACT or SAT scores are the final scores accepted for scholarship consideration.
All currently enrolled students must submit their scholarship application by March 3, 2025. Freshmen who entered fall 2024 will receive access to the application in January 2025.
