First Home Owner (New Home) Grant

First home buyers who are building or buying a newly built home may be eligible for a $10,000 grant to put towards the purchase price.

First home buyers who build a new home or purchase a brand new or substantially renovated property can receive a $10,000 grant.

How it works

The grant is only available for homes that no-one has lived in before.

It can be a house, townhouse, apartment, unit or similar that is newly built, purchased off the plan or has just been substantially renovated.

The grant is not means tested and you do not have to pay tax on it.

How to apply

You can apply for the First Home Owner (New Home) Grant through your bank or financial institution when you’re arranging finance.

You'll need to provide documents to prove your identity and contracts for your property purchase when you apply.
